GINGERBREAD KIDS Wins WorldFest-Houston 2025

We are honored to share with you all that as of last night, GINGERBREAD KIDS has officially secured its first festival win! And it's a big one...

Our festival strategy to this point has been prioritizing the bigger festivals requiring first-screening, and hitting up the smaller festivals after to rack up as many awards as we can. Our main target was WorldFest-Houston International, and to our surprise... we WON!

WorldFest-Houston is the oldest independent film festival in the world, running for 58 years and counting. This is the festival where many of the greats won their first awards and served as a launchpad for thier careers, including Steven Spielberg, George Lucas, Ang Lee, the Coen Brothers, Ridley Scott, John Lee Hancock, Brian de Palma, Randal Kleiser, Oliver Stone, David Lynch, and many, many more.

In 1969, Spielberg won a Gold Remi for his short film AMBLIN, back when the festival was known as the Atlanta Film Festival. While at WorldFest, Spielberg met Frank O’Connor, VP of Universal Pictures, and went on to sign a 7-year contract with Universal Television.

This festival is of great significance to the independent filmmaking community, and it has been a longtime dream of ours to secure a win amongst the greats and trace their path to bigger and better screens. To say that we have won the same award as Steven Spielberg is genuinely mind bending to us.

We will be sure to keep you all updated as our festival run continues, and as we get closer to closing a deal for distribution.

It's only up from here…
